Email & SPAM
Wow. I just read an article about emails and SPAM and was reminded how young email and the Internet really are.
Way back in 1971 the very first email was sent. Can you believe that? Email has only been around for 37 years and that was on a very restricted basis. It was hardly email as we know it today. A guy called Ray Tomlinson managed to send a message from one machine to another in the same room.
Eureka! Email was born.
SPAM was something that would never have been thought of in those early days of email. Only around 1,000 people had email and you knew exactly who was sending the email to you.
But inevitably as the Internet grew, email became mainstream and criminal gangs realised that the Internet was a fantastic place to extort people, SPAM was born too.
But I suppose we have to take stock of the overall situation and ask the question;
Could I really do without my email account(s) now?
Could I survive with only texting, posting (and I mean the paper type that has to go by hand) or telephoning?
So yes in my humble opinion I destest SPAMMERS. I find SPAM an invasion of privacy and if I wanted Viagra or cheap software products (or indeed manhood enlargement pills), I certainly would not buy then from an anonymous company on the Internet who only wants my bank account details and credit card information. However, all of that aside I LOVE MY EMAIL!!
